The biggest moments in entertainment don’t end when the credits roll or the final whistle blows. They spark conversations, influence what people watch next, and increasingly shape what they discover and buy.
As the TV experience evolves, the living room is becoming a starting point for a much broader customer journey. Through the VIZIO OS, content and cultural moments can connect studios, streaming platforms and brands with audiences across discovery, viewing and commerce.
VIZIO’s Head of Media & Entertainment Advertising, Sean Booker, sat down with industry leaders from NBCUniversal, Universal Pictures and Walmart Connect to explore how that shift is changing the way studios release films, streaming platforms grow audiences, and brands turn attention into deeper engagement.

You simply can’t have a conversation about M&E advertising without talking about the ultimate engagement driver: live sports. And NBCUniversal, with its vast trove of sports media rights, including the U.S. broadcasting rights for the Olympics, knows its stuff when it comes to getting viewers passionately engaged even in sports they don’t otherwise watch, like curling.
“Live sports create such an unmatchable scale for our business,” says Lindsay Vogelman, SVP of Strategic Partnerships & Partner Marketing at NBCUniversal. “It's that real time engagement. There's emotion attached to it and kind of that urgency-type of viewing.”
But the opportunity extends beyond the live event itself.
“We don't look at sports as just the single live broadcast moment at NBC,” Vogelman says. “There's this whole lifecycle experience around it. So while you're watching the live moment, there's shoulder content, there's a continued social conversation, and that really allows for a more meaningful way for us to engage with, with our consumers and kind of form that deeper emotional connection that really fuels the wider experience.”

As VIZIO integrates further into the Walmart ecosystem, the opportunities for M&E partners are expanding.
Finster explains that Walmart is adding a new layer of "retail intelligence" to the entertainment foundation built by VIZIO and NBCU. “NBCU is bringing the scale and the emotion, and then we're able to deliver those consumer insights and turn it from something that was maybe just impressions, but we’re actually able to show consideration, awareness, and actually the purchasing behavior there,” Finster says. “I think that ability to close that loop has really changed what sports is with our relationship there with NBCU.”
And in today’s fragmented marketplace, that’s good as gold.
