Turn of the Flywheel: Why VIZIO + Walmart Is More Than a Media Play

Turn of the Flywheel: Why VIZIO + Walmart Is More Than a Media Play

VIZIO

The foundation of VIZIO’s success has always been simple: sell great TVs.

When you give people a product they like, a product they can build a relationship with, you set the stage for real innovation. We’re always thinking of new ways to strengthen the relationship between viewers and their TVs, creating better and better user experiences that have led to enormous scale.

And now, with Walmart in the mix, we’re able to fully transform that relationship, connecting content to commerce.

The OS That Comes With Scale

Our VIZIO OS isn’t just for VIZIO-branded TVs anymore. Walmart now powers their onn. TV brand with the VIZIO OS, putting the same intuitive, content-forward OS into more living rooms across the country. We’re on track to become one of the largest smart TV ecosystems in the U.S.

That means more data. More impressions. More efficiency. All while delivering a best-in-class user experience centered around the content they love.

Connecting Couch To Cart

Let’s talk “connected commerce” for a second. We wanted to figure out how the TV can play a distinct role in the shopping journey. We’re not trying to copy-paste a mobile experience onto the big screen. That’s not useful. Everyone’s got a phone within reach already. So the question becomes: What utility does the TV offer that other screens don’t?

We're exploring a handful of scenarios, but they all ladder up to one core idea: making the shopping experience more relevant and frictionless when it originates from the couch. That’s what will make it stick.

This means the ability to log into your VIZIO device with your Walmart credentials. The viewer then becomes the beneficiary of real-time retail experiences, including cart building and personalized content. Advertisers get better match rates with Walmart shopper data, meaning they’ll be able to deliver messages that matter, in moments that matter.

Unlocking Value For Brands That Sell At Walmart

Right now, we’ve got a strong base of media and entertainment advertisers. But the real unlock comes with Walmart Connect. When we activate that pipeline—allowing Walmart suppliers to buy VIZIO inventory natively—it’s a game changer.

We’re marrying the biggest screen in the home with the biggest retailer in the country. That’s full-funnel, end-to-end, measurable advertising. That’s being able to tie an impression to a purchase with unprecedented clarity.

AI's Role In Streamlining The Sell Side

While it’s still early days, there’s something bubbling in the ad tech space worth noting: agent-based buying. Today’s media buyers are logging into clunky platforms, managing redundant workflows, and juggling RFPs that all look the same.

Agents—AI-powered assistants—can take that burden off their plate. Let the bots handle the logistics, and let people focus on strategy, creativity, and high-impact storytelling. That’s a better system for everyone.

Bringing It All Together

At the end of the day, what's really exciting is the way all these pieces support each other. We sell more TVs, growing our install base. That makes us more valuable to advertisers. That drives more revenue, which gets reinvested into improving the viewer experience. And the virtuous cycle continues.

This is the flywheel. And with Walmart as part of the system, the sky’s the limit.
