Report: The State Of Smart TV Advertising


A new report from analyst group TV-REV calls smart TV manufacturers like VIZIO “a force to be reckoned with in the growing smart TV universe.”


According to the report, the leading U.S.-based smart TV OEMs— including VIZIO —are expected to increase ad revenue by 4.5x over the next five years. Here's what lead analyst Alan Wolk says: 


“Smart TV OEMs are rapidly becoming the powers behind the thrones, serving the gatekeeper role once played by MVPDs, while providing advertisers with a national audience and the sort of measurement and attribution stats they’ve come to expect from digital.”


Driving this is Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) technology that provides real-time reporting on viewing patterns and the effectiveness of TV advertising, which the report says is "a novel way to capture attention data and viewing habits."
